Kicked up Sliders

Yield: 6-8 sliders
Prep time: 5 minutes
Bake time: 20 minutes

Ingredients:
1 lb beef
1 T Montreal Steak Seasoning
10 butter crackers crushed
1/4 french fried onions
2 T dill relish
2 T spicy mustard
2 T worchestershire
1 T minced garlic
1/2 C Shredded Cheddar Cheese
1 T olive oil
salt and pepper to taste
Optional: small kaiser dinner roll, cheese slices

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 385.
  2. Prepare baking dish (baking dish should have sides to catch grease) with tin foil, for easy cleanup.
  3. Mix all ingredients in a bowl by hand, just until combined.
  4. Section out meat into 7-8 sections, in bowl.
  5. Form 7-8 patties, start with a meatball shape;flatten;then press thumb into bottom of patty forming a small dome. This helps the slider keep it’s burger shape.
  6. Place patties in prepared baking dish, they can touch, as they will shrink.
  7. Bake for 30 minutes or until cooked through. Thermometer should read 155 in center of burger for food safety.
  8. While burgers are cooking, butter inside of rolls lightly and grill in skillet until browned!  This is a great touch:)
  9. For Cheeseburgers; add cheese slices, place in oven for 3 minutes more.
  10. Garnish burger with lettuce, mayo, jalapeno, red onion, whatever you like, and serve!

NOTE: It took me some time to find the best burger bun.  I find that the Parker House style, they come 15 in a pack in the freezer section, work great.  I also know that most grocery store bakeries offer a very soft, small dinner roll that is delish.  You’ll have to try a few out until you find your fave!

Healthy Note:  I really can’t eat like this at this point in my life.  I had a bit of a breast cancer scare last summer.  I had precancerous cells removed and I have been leaning into the gluten free, dairy free, sugar free lifestyle ever since. I was trying to get rid of some things in the pantry and added in the french fried onions.  They are delicious, but I need to eat cleaner than that!  So, I would most likely buy organic meat, cut out the roll, and cheese.  I would swap real onions for french fried onions.  I would even add some spinach in there! This fatty meat would be fine placed in a huge salad dressed in a vinegarette. Please enjoy!
